UNHCR recently stated that “Displacement linked to climate change is not a future hypothetical – it’s a current reality.” 21.5 million people have been forcibly displaced by weather-related hazards – such as floods, storms, wildfires, extreme temperature – each year since 2008. Climate change sows seeds for conflict, but also makes displacement worse when it occurs. So why is UNHCR at #COP22 and how will the organization move forward to address this “threat multiplier”?
